This chapter is divided into three sections, each of which concentrates on a key contribution to the ongoing dialogue between philosophy and film. The first section, Philosophy's Rib is an extended review of Rupert Read and Jerry Goodenough's Film as Philosophy: Essays on Cinema After Wittgenstein and Cavell; the second section, Citizen Derrida discusses the text of Dick and Kofman's recent film; the third section considers the extended conversation of the philosophical possibilities of film in Jean-Luc Godard, and Youseff Ishaghpour, Cinema: The Archaeology of Film and the Memory of a Century.
